Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov meets Pope Francis in Bahrain

On November 4, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Pope Francis in Bahrain.

“Bahrain is currently hosting a representative and important forum on the dialogue of cultures, faiths and civilizations. It is gratifying that issues of global concern are being discussed with such high-level representatives as you are,” Tatarstan President started the discussion.

During the meeting, Minnikhanov informed about the features of Tatarstan, in particular, dwelling on support for ethnic and religious diversity.

Among the significant events for Tatarstan, Minnikhanov emphasized the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the consecration of which was headed by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

In addition, there is a Catholic parish in Kazan. It started its work in 1995. In the church « Exaltation of the Holy Cross» of Kazan daily worship services are performed, including in foreign languages.

The parish is living a full life, bringing together families, young people, preparing for sacraments, and Sunday school and the library are operating.
