Tatarstan President: We assign great priority to interaction with Bahrain

On 3 November at his meeting with the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Bahrain Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working visit to the country, expressed his gratitude to the  Shaikh for the invitation to take part in the forum and for his visit to Tatarstan to take part in events dedicated to celebrations of the 110th anniversary of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.

“Russian Federation assigns great priority to interaction with Bahrain. Our country considerers the Kingdom to be our important trade, economic and investments partner in the Middle East region”, he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov stated that in its turn Tatarstan is striving to contribute into the development of cooperation with the Kingdom within the Russia-Bahrain relations and informed: “Our republic supports active relations with the Islamic world countries and has established interaction with such authoritative international institutes as the OIC, the Islamic Development Bank and the OIC Youth Forum. Large amount of work is carried out by the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – the Islamic World” headed by me by the errand from Russian President Vladimir Putin”.

He also thanked Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa for his active participation in the work of the Group.

The participants of the meeting also discussed further cooperation as, according to Tatarstan President, industrial enterprises of the republic can meet interests of Bahrain by offering reach range of products. He also invited Bahrain companies to take part in investments projects of the republic, having said: “Bahrain is one of financial centers in the Middle East. In its turn Tatarstan is aa pilot region in implementation of Islamic banking and financing principles in Russia.”

In his turn the Shaikh introduced Rustam Minnikhanov all representatives of the Council for Islamic Affairs, whom he invited to take part in the meeting, and said: “I personally and on behalf of our Council express our gratitude for this meeting”. 

“We are also trying hard to develop our relations. As far as religion is concerned, we have certain achievements especially within work of the “Russia-Islamic World”. This group plays an important role in the Islamic world. We would like to express our gratitude to the attention given to our brother-Muslims in Russia”, the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Bahrain said. 

He also said that he will continue strengthening cooperation also in the sphere of economics.
