On 1 November Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Vasil Shaykhraziyev and Russian Deputy Minister of Culture Nadezhda Prepodobnaya took part in the summarizing meeting of the organizing committee of the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria held by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin in Moscow.
Opening the meeting, Marat Khausnullin informed that by a decree from Russian President Valdimir Putin the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria were held on the federal level and included various events such as publications of domestic theological heritage, a number of conferences and exhibitions and other important events.
He said: “The President of the country Vladimir Putin has not once mentioned a substantial contribution made by Russian Muslims in providing dynamic development of our Motherland. Currently Islam is an inseparable part of Russian statehood, its history and culture. Millions of Russian citizens, who protected and will protect national interests, consider them to be its followers”.
Marat Khusnullin stressed the event were taking place in a difficult period of time for our country when there was a negative impact of Western countries. “We counted this with unity of Russian citizens of all confessions standing for our national values», he said
“At the same time we can see support from the Islamic world, and active participation of representatives of Muslim countries in the international economic summit KazanSummit2022 proved this”, Khusnullin said and thanked all members of the Organizing Committee for high level of events preparations.
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov said: “The current year was symbolic for Muslims of Tatarstan and the whole of Russia. We are grateful to the head of the state for comprehensive support and help. Moreover as the jubilee date fell on a very complicated period for our country. Despite challenging armed opposition with Ukraine and unprecedented pressure exerted on Russia, all planned events were organized and held at the highest level possible. Tatarstan worked in close interaction with federal powers and centralized Muslim organizations and it is very pleasant that at this time Islamic world countries continue actively ramping up a constructive dialogue with the Russian Federation”. He also noted that such events as the plenary session of the Strategic Vision Group Russia-Islamic World, the international economic summit KazanSummit 2022, Kazan Global Youth Summit and laying a foundation stone at the future site of the Kazan Cathedral Mosque underlined the exceptional importance of the celebrations for the whole of Russia.
“The celebration event became the beginning of implementation of many promising regional, Russian and international projects”, Minnikhanov said and added he is sure it will be another bright page in the chronicles of achievements of our multi-national country and facilitate strengthening inter-ethnic and inter-religious peace and concord in the society.
