Addressing the participants, Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that these are all those who work to provide fresh bread, milk, meat and vegetables for our tables.

He reminded that this year the republic harvested more than 5m tonnes of grain, 600 000 tonnes of oilseeds, 800 000 tonnes of potatoes, 260 000 tonnes of vegetables and 1.8m tonnes of sugar beet and  stocked up enough forage for productive cattle wintering.

Having named some agricultural workers, who showed the highest productivity, Tatarstan President said: “It is impossible to name all top performers and we say thank you for your selfless labour. Agro-industrial complex is developing and the republic continues construction and modernization of cattle-breeding facilities, thrashing floors and elevators. Under current conditions we should fully provide our residents with basic food products as this is an issue of food security”.

He also reminded that small farms are an important development factor and every year the republic allocates about 2bn roubles on their support.

“Our aim is to make life of rural residents correspond to the most modern standards and the republic implements programmes focused on complex development of territories, 44 of them being fulfilled this year,” Tatarstan President informed.
