On 11 October, speaking at his meeting with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who is on a working trip to the Republic, said: “I would like to express gratitude to you for special attention given to the development of cooperation of our republics aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Uzbekistan”.
“This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. In these difficult times we have preserved our efficient trade-economic and cultural and humanitarian partnership”, he continued.
Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that the current year showed that cooperation is ramped up and due to personal support from the Uzbekistan President Kazan Federal University opened its branch in the City of Jizzakh and a joint project of the Chirchik chemical and industrial park was implemented.
According to results of the last year, Tatarstan-Uzbekistan trade turnover exceeded 193m US dollars, having grown by 23.5 per cent. The current year has already shown a 34 per cent growth. Tatarstan President said he was sure all this became possible due to active personal interaction and mutual visits which result in joint enterprises.
Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his special gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for active work of a representative of Uzbekistan in the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-Islamic World”, which Tatarstan President is the head of by the errand of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
