Rustam Minnikhanov at the opening ceremony of the II International Construction Competition: You cannot change life without construction workers, which means you have chosen the most important craft

On 5 October addressing participants at the opening ceremony of the II International Construction Competition, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said :”We are very glad to host such event” and reminded that the Kazan Expo complex was built especially for hosting 45th WorldSkills Competition in 2019.

Tatarstan President noted that the republic has serious traditions including those in the construction sphere, the 100th anniversary of which was celebrated recently.” We build both social and large industrial facilities in the republic. Our economy is industry, oil refinery complex, Gasprom facilities and machine-building plants. This year investments into main assets only will make more than 700bn roubles”, he said.

“Of course we all like when something changes for the better. And all this is done by builders! You cannot change life without construction workers, which means you have chosen the most important craft, “he said and wished participants successful competitions and a pleasant stay in the republic.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Russian Minister of Construction and Utilities Sector Irek Fayzullin stressed that today builders are fulfilling a large volume of tasks and construction is gaining a new meaning especially under sanctions as this gives load to our enterprises and creates jobs. “We have seen the amount of construction work done in Tatarstan. When I used to work here it was 360bn roubles, and currently it has increased by 100bn”.

Irek Fayzulling also reminded that 5 foreign delegations – from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are taking part in competitions and wished then all success.

Director General of Rosatom Corporation Aleksey Likhachev expressed his gratitude to Tatarstan for its hospitality and stated a huge contribution of the federal ministry “which finds time to kindle people and attract them to a big construction team”.

Prior to the opening ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov, Irek Fayzullin and Aleksey Likhachev visited expositions of Russian and Tatarstan Ministries of Construction, Rostat, SIBUR and Gazrom Companies organized on the sidelines of the Competition.
