Rustam Minnikhanov meets the Governor of Golestan Province (Iran) Ali Mohammad Zanganeh

On 19 September at his meeting with the Governor of Golestan Province (Iran) Ali Mohammad Zanganeh , Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Iran, said that Tatarstan as one of regions of Russian Federation and Iran provinces have acquired rich cooperation experience.

Addressing the Golestan Governor, Minnikhanov said: “There is the General Consulate of Iran in Kazan and there is a working memorandum on trade cooperation signed by our governments. This year our contacts have become more active and this is good. Today it is very important to build relations on the regional level.”

In his turn the Golestan Governor said: “We are ready to develop cooperation with Tatarstan in building beneficial logistics so that goods from your republic can go to other countries via Iran”. In particular, he informed about work in establishing a corridor to the Indian Ocean, being built with the potential of Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

“This project is in high demand today and we will also explore this matter,” Rustam Minnikhanov replied.

The parties also discussed issues of interaction in supplying agricultural products, in particular those Halal, and cooperation in science and education. Today a number of Tatarstan universities already have agreements with Iran and teach 752 students from the country. There is also Iran studies Center in Kazan, Minnikhanov informed.

Tatarstan President remarked on the necessity to ramp up work of Chambers of Commerce not only in goods transfer but also in establishing joint productions.

In the end of the meeting the parties signed a Protocol on results of the negotiations.
