Address from Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on the occasion of the All-Russia Day of Knowledge

In his address to Tatarstan residents on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has written:

Dear Tatarstan residents, dear teachers and lecturers, employees of the education sphere!

From the bottom of my heart I congratulate schoolchildren, students of community colleges and universities, representatives of our multi-thousand teaching community with a kind and jolly holiday – the Day of Knowledge.

In different times and historical epochs, in the years of glorious victories and hardships, 1 September was and still is a state event, a symbol of the unbreakable bonds of generations and unstoppable drive of our multi-national people to knowledge and unknown scientific heights.

Nowhere in the world is the Day of Knowledge celebrated so ceremonially and widely as in Russia because it is close and understandable to people of all ethnicities and religions, people of different ages and social position. But of course the most emotional it is for our first grade children who for the first time in their lives cross the threshold of school and meet their first teacher the image of whom will be always imprinted in their grateful hearts.

Education that is qualitative, highly competitive and based on solid facilities and resources is the key to success of any society. Current political situation and ongoing pressure on our state from outside including that in education and science require further uniting of efforts and relying on our own capabilities and traditions.

I express my sincere gratitude to all Tatarstan teachers and the faculty, to all employees of the education sphere for their noble work and would like to assure that the administration of the republic will continue developing all necessary conditions for implementation of such an important social mission”.
