On July 7 Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev and President of the International Fencing Federation Alisher Usmanov visited indoor manege of Kazan equestrian sports complex to see fencing competitions held within the 27th World Summer Universiade. The Russian sabre fencer Kamil Ibragimov and epee fencer A-Lam Shin from Korea won the golden medals.

Mintimer Shaimiev and Alisher Usmanov presented golden, silver and bronze medals to the winners.
