On July 7 First Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Government Igor Shuvalov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, and Aide to Tatarstan President Olesya Baltusova made a walking tour around reconstructed Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda in Kazan.

Reconstruction of Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda started two years ago upon the initiative of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. 24 objects of cultural heritage have been reconstructed within the framework of public and private partnership by investors. Regional and municipal authorities restored streets, lightening, and infrastructure. Specialists from all over Russia were invited to restore old brick and wooden houses. Participants of the tour could see the reconstruction work results.

Igor Shuvalov appreciated the quality of reconstructed wooden houses in Staro-Tatarskaya sloboda. At the end of the tour First Vice-Premier visited a restored historical square, where the guests saw Tatar dances, antique and dairy shops, and other authentic features.
