On 11 August Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with the administration of the regional Ministry of Agriculture came on a working trip to Apastovo region where he got acquainted with the harvest campaign and met local farmers.
The head of the region Ayrat Ziganshin informed the guests that the farmers have to harvest more than 70 000 hectares using 88 combine harvesters and the average yield makes 35.6 centners per hectare.
Giving his assessment of agribusiness development in the region in the whole, Tatarstan President attracted attention to necessity of stepping up animal husbandry as current indicators do not measure up to the potential of the region.
“The whole problem is providing forage. If there is forage there will be more people wanting to breed caws which means there will be qualitative milk. Milk sales is a steady source of earnings in the village”, Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President was also shown a private commercial dairy farm run by Z. Ibragimov which was built by taking 16m roubles of a loan and 24m roubles grant from Ministry of Agriculture of the republic. The farm with 300 cows produces 7 tonnes of milk daily and employs14 people. Ibragimov told Tatarstan President that currently he is building the second cowshed for 400 cows which is planned to be finished by the end of the current year.
