14 Finance Assembly of European Broadcasting Union will be held on September, 24-26 in Tatarstan capital.

Today Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov met with Deputy General Director of Federal State unitary enterprise “All-Russia state television and broadcasting company” (VGTRK) Andrey Bystritsky. They discussed preparation and holding of 14 Finance Assembly of European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Management of European Broadcasting Union offered VGTRK to carry out 14 Finance Assembly in 2008 in one of Russian cities.
Taking into account the growing interest of world community towards the Republic of Tatarstan, VGTRK together with GTRK “Tatarstan” offered to organize this event in Kazan.
Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev approved the idea. Thus, Tatarstan Government is one of organizers.

Finance Directors and experts of television and radio companies from more than 50 countries around the world will take part in the Assembly.

European Broadcasting Union (www.ebu.ch) was founded on February, 12, 1950 on initiative of 23 public television and radio companies of countries situated in Western Europe and Mediterranean basin.

Today EBU is one of the largest professional non-commercial association of national public and state television and radio companies in the world.

Russian Federation is presented in EBU by 3 active members: VGTRK, “Radiodom Ostankino” association (radio companies “Mayak”, “Golos Rossii”, “Orfey”) and 1 Channel.

The main tasks of EBU are broad exchange of television and radio programs, joint production, provision of preferential access for broadcast of sport competitions, culture programs, holding of international competitions and contests.
