Tatarstan President: We are interested in developing cooperation with Tajikistan

On August 1, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Russia Davlatshoh  Gulmahmadzoda, at which he expressed gratitude to the leadership of Tajikistan for attention and support of cooperation with Tatarstan, aimed at strengthening relations between the countries.

Minnikhanov emphasized that this year the country celebrates the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. “Bilateral relations are on the rise, contacts are actively developing in all areas. Tajikistan is a strategic partner and ally of Russia”, he said.

“Cooperation agreements have been signed between our chambers of commerce and industry, enterprises and universities. There are direct flights between our cities,” Tatarstan President said.

At the same time, according to Tatarstan President, the available opportunities are not being fully used. He urged for increasing cooperation, especially in the trade and economic sphere.

Among the priority areas of cooperation are mechanical engineering, the agro-industrial complex, healthcare, and informatization. Tatarstan is ready to supply helicopters, agricultural machinery, oil and gas equipment, tires, food products, including meeting the requirements of halal.

Supplies of goods from Tajikistan are also of interest. First of all, these are agricultural products and melons and gourds. Minnikhanov also thanked colleagues from Tajikistan for their contribution to the work of Russia - Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, which Tatarstan President has been heading since 2014.

Interaction is developing in education and culture. About 900 students from Tajikistan are studying at Tatarstan universities. The national-cultural autonomy of the Tajiks of Tatarstan "Somoniyon" takes an active part in the public life of the republic.

In his turn, Gulmahmadzoda thanked Minnikhanov for the meeting and highly appreciated the development of the republic.
