On July 30, during his working visit to Tatarstan, Chairman of the Board of SIBUR Holding, Chairman of the Board of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson accompanied by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Science City of Innopolis.
Innopolis is the first Russian city specifically built for IT professionals. It is based on three components: the scientific and educational infrastructure, including the University of Innopolis, a school and a lyceum, the residential and social infrastructure of the city, and the special economic zone (SEZ). Today, the population of Innopolis is 4,193 people.
In the Popov Technopark, Mikhelson got acquainted with the development of Innopolis SEZ, where the most favorable conditions for the successful business of residents and the efficient development of their projects, including tax benefits have been created. Today, 323 companies work here. Partnership has been established with 30 leading venture funds. SEZ startups attracted more than 4.3 billion roubles of venture capital investments in their own projects.
Then the guests visited the University of Innopolis, where 893 students from 44 countries are studying and 152 research and teaching staff from 15 countries with experience in leading foreign universities and companies of the world IT industry are engaged in research and teach. The University of Innopolis is the centre for digital economy training.
