Session of FISU General Assembly opens in Kazan

On July 3 a session of FISU General Assembly on readiness of Tatarstan capital for 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 opened in Kazan.

Director General of Executive office “Kazan-2013” Vladimir Leonov, FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien will report on work that has been done during preparation for Universiade 2013, and FISU Secretary General Eric Saintrond will tell about FISU priorities in the sphere of sport development.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov welcomed participants of the session:

“Hosting such major sport competitions give powerful impetus to development of cities and regions, and education of physically and morally healthy generation. Universiade has become a nationwide project. The whole civil society, government authorities, higher educational institutions, public, sports, and international organisations have been involved in the project implementation. Kazan has greatly changed and now we see a comfortable, beautiful, and modern city due to Universiade.”

The Prime Minister added that up-to-date infrastructure and trained qualified talent pool will enable hosting other international events at the highest level.

Claude-Louis Gallien, in his turn, thanked Tatarstan citizens and noted high level of Kazan readiness for hosting Universiade.
