The mosque named after its first Imam Rakhimulla Hazrat Minazetdinov,  was built in the village in 1990 and its opening after reconstruction was dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “Tatarstan and Chuvashia are not just neighbours, We are representatives of brotherly ethnicities. We have the same roots. We cn see how attentive is the local administration to representatives of other ethnicities and confessions and it created all necessary conditions for them to confess their religion and to preserve their national traditions. And for this I would like to express my gratitude to the Administration of the Chuvash Republic for its careful attitude to religion and culture of the Tatars”.

In his turn Oleg Nikolayev said that representatives of 128 ethnicities are living in Chuvashia in peace and concord. The Tatars are the third in number ethnicity in the region. “Tatars are making a great contribution into the life in our republic and most important – they preserve traditions formed by our ancestors. From the bottom of my heart I thank you”, he said.

After having looked round the mosque and getting acquainted with the history of Tatar settlements in Chuvashia, Rustam Minnikhanov and Oleg Nikolayev had a meeting with active residents of the Urmayevo settlement and benefactors of the mosque reconstruction.

During the visit to Urmayevo, Minikhannov also visited the Kara Pulat (the Black Chamber) Mosque which functions as a spiritual and educational center.
