On June 29, at the Saydash Cultural Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, Minister of Education and Science of the republic Ilsur Khadiullin, Vice Speaker of the State Council of the Republic, Chairman of the Commission for the Preservation and Development of the Tatar Language Marat Akhmetov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took part in the plenary session of the 8th All-Russian Congress of Teachers of the Tatar Language and Literature.
Before the meeting, Minnikhanov and Shaimiev looked around an exhibition of publishing products and educational projects.
In his speech, Tatarstan President emphasized that today much attention is paid to the preservation and development of the Tatar language, national traditions and culture, including outside of Tatarstan. Tatar teachers make a significant contribution to this issue, instilling love for their mother tongue in children.
Minnikhanov noted that all conditions have been created in the republic for the study of native languages. Not only Tatar, but also Chuvash, Mari, Udmurt and others. Various digital tools are being actively introduced, and educational programmes are being developed.
Minnikhanov noted that the love for the native language is instilled in the family. “Of course, if parents speak Tatar at home - the child will also know it well. This is very important,” he stressed. He also underlined the great work carried out by the Commission for the Preservation and Development of the Tatar Language.
Then Tatarstan President handed in state awards of Tatarstan and departmental awards of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
In his turn, Shaimiev thanked teachers for fulfilling an important mission that contributes to the preservation of the Tatar language and traditions. This is not an easy job, but there is no other way. If we do not deal with this issue - no one else will do it. I want to thank you for your noble work», he addressed the teachers.
On June 27-29, teachers from 26 regions of Russia, including Tatarstan took part in the congress. In total, there are about 500 delegates.
The issues of implementing the state national policy, strengthening interregional cooperation, joint activities of the national-cultural autonomies of the Tatars and public organizations for the preservation and study of ethno-cultural education were on the agenda.
