Today Acting Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin and the Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin participated in the Moscow Sabantui. About 150,000 visitors attended “Kolomenskoye” Museum to plunge into the atmosphere of the ancient Tatar-Bashkir holiday.

First celebrations of Sabantui date back to the 30s of the 20th century. During a war tradition was interrupted and resumed only in 1989, but the location of the holiday was changed several times. For the three years in a row Moscow Sabantui is celebrated in the Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve.

The program of the festival included: a concert of masters of arts from Moscow, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, various competitions and national wrestling “Kuresh”.

National souvenirs were sold at the festival, including folk arts and crafts, pastries and sweets, such as Tatar chak-chak and Bashkir honey.
Representatives of Naberezhnye Chelny, one of the main organizers of the festival, decorated the territory with beautiful flower compositions, the brightest of which was dedicated to the success of “KAMAZ-Master”, multiple winner of the international rally-raids.

Farid Mukhametshin heartily welcomed the guests. “Dear Friends I am sending you warm greetings from Kazan, which these days is preparing to host the 27th World Summer Universiade and welcome thousands of visitors from around the world. He also thanked Sergei Sobyanin and his team for assistance in organizing such large-scale event. “I wish you health, prosperity, success in work, friendship, peace and harmony!”

According to Sergei Sobyanin, Sabantui celebrates friendship, creative work and love for the homeland. “These values hold great importance to each Moscow citizen and it is not accidental that Sabantui became a citywide festival that is celebrated by representatives of different nationalities.”
