On June 10, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the delegation of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, which arrived in Kazan to take part in a joint meeting of the people’s deputy group of the State Duma on relations with the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the inter-parliamentary group of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on cooperation with the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Minnikhanov emphasized the positive dynamic of cooperation between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan under the friendly Russian-Uzbek relations. A special role in the development of interaction belongs to inter-parliamentary contacts, he said.
Minnikhanov highly appreciated the growing trade turnover. “We are actively developing our trade and economic relations. Last year the growth amounted to 23 percent. In general, the volume of mutual trade reaches 200 million US dollars”, Tatarstan President said.
According to Minnikhanov, leading Tatarstan companies carry out active work is carried out. KAMAZ Automaker is widely represented in Uzbekistan: here is a car center and an assembly line in the country. Tatneft Oil Company has opened 2 petrol stations in Uzbekistan. Other companies are also interested in developing cooperation. He also said that similar culture and traditions contribute to the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan.
In his turn, Head of the inter-parliamentary group of Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Abdullaev emphasized that Uzbekistan is interested in cooperation with Tatarstan, as one of the leading innovative regions of Russia.
