On June 7, at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of Zarubezhneft Company Sergey Kudryashov discussed the prospects for cooperation with scientific institutions and industrial enterprises of Tatarstan in oil production.
The company is already cooperating with the region, implementing a joint project with Kazan Federal University (KFU). Since 2018, the company with the participation of specialists of KFU develops catalytic systems for the underground upgrading of extra-viscous oil and natural bitumen at the Boca de Jaruco field in the Republic of Cuba.
The technology allows to partially process the oil in the reservoir in order to obtain higher quality and higher volume of oil production. In 2020, the Zarubezhneft was among the first in the world to conduct a successful field experiment to test this technology.
In 2021, a world-class extra-viscous oil laboratory with high-tech equipment was established at the KFU with leading world and Russian scientists, involved in the project.
During his working visit to Tatarstan, Kudryashov visited the scientific centre of the Kazan Federal University and the Innopolis Special Economic Zone.
