On 6 June, speaking at a ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of Russian Language and 223d birthday of the great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin in the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan with participation of the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said: “It is difficult to overestimate the influence of the Russian literary genius on development of the belles-lettres style, creative work and most important on spiritual development of many generations of people of different nationalities and religions”.
He stated that the republic traditionally widely celebrates such holidays as Karavon, Spasskaya Fair, Alekseyevsk Bells, holds educational and scientific events, including Cyril and Methodius, Onegin and Aksakov Readings, and organizes modern youth festivals of Russian culture.
Minnikhanov reminded that the Programme of Russian Language in Tatarstanhas been implemented already for 16 years in the republic as the necessary actions on preservation and multiplication of the treasure of Russian culture are stated in the state programmes of the republic.
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to all those who are passionate and make contribution into the important work of preservation of the spiritual heritage and first of all to teachers, workers of culture and representatives of the community. I would like to pay special attention to the 10 year work of the Russian National and Cultural Amalgamation of the republic, with the leaders of which we discussed many important question and set up further tasks today”, the Tatarstan President.
He stressed that the diversity of languages, traditions and culture is a priceless treasure of Russia. “We can preserve spiritual values of our ancestors and identity of all ethnicities comprising out multinational society”, Minnikhanov added.
In the end of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov handed in State awards of the Republic of Tatarstan.
