Nikolai Patrushev and Rustam Minnikhanov visit the Kul Sharif mosque and the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God

On May 31, during his working visit to Kazan, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev accompanied by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov visited the Kul Sharif mosque and the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

Patrushev had a tour of the mosque and got acquainted with its unique architecture and was informed about the history of the development of Islam in the territory of modern Tatarstan.

The Secretary of the Security Council of Russian looked around the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and got acquainted with the history of the temple and the main stages of its restoration. He also visited the Cave Temple, located in the underground part of the cult building. Then Patrushev together with Minnikhanov and Komarov laid flowers at the grave of Metropolitan Feofan (Ashurkov), who died in November 2020.
