On 19 May, speaking at a plenary session of the International Economic Summit Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022 held in Kazan, the Chairman of the World Halal Day Muhammad Ali Jinnah proposed to establish a Halal-hub in Tatarstan.
The session, moderated by Yusuf Erim, the Chief Editor of TRT World from Turkey, was dedicated to the common consumption economy and the universal benefit of Halal and included such topics as Islamic finances and partner banking, Halal industry, youth diplomacy, development of export and entrepreneurship and investments.
“I think Tatarstan is a very good and important player to join Muslim and non-Muslim countries for Halal production not only of food but in other sectors,” Muhammad Ali Jinnah said and added that the republic has experience and necessary ties for organizing such work. He also underlined that in case Halal industry goes into the non-Muslim market its turnover can grow from 3 to 10 trillion US dollars.
Special representative of Russia in the OIC Ramazan Abdulatipov, who took part in the plenary session, said that during all crises in the post-Soviet history, people of Tatarstan preserved their identity, traditional cultural and moral way of life and their faith which explains the success of the republic in state building and economy.
He reminded that after the 90-es the republic was one of the first regions to bring its legislation in line with the federal one and put forth tremendous effort to consolidate the society inside itself.
“Tatarstan has become an example of strengthening the multi-national unity inside the republic by consolidation of different ethnicities of the republic”, Abdulatipov said.
The Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan (Turkmen: Halk Maslahaty) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow , the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maksim Reshetnikov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who is also the Chairman of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-Islamic World”, the Chairman of the Bahrain Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Under Secretary of the Foreign Trade and Industry at the UAE Ministry of Economy Abdulla Al Saleh, the President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce Sergey Katyrin and other speakers also took part in the plenary session.
