In his message of greetings to participants and organizers of the XIII International economic summit “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022”  and of the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-Islamic World”, read out at the opening of the plenary session of the summit by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

“It is my pleasure to welcome participants and organizers of international forums held in these days in the hospitable capital of Tatarstan. For many years Kazan gives a platform for a dialogue of politicians, businessmen and experts from Russia and OIC member-countries.

In the current year the events are associated with the remarkable date of the 1100th anniversary of adopting Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. Its gives a good reason to look at the state and prospects of development of Russia’s relations with the Islamic world through the prism of the centuries-long history.

It is gratifying that a lot unites us today and first of all our commitments to the aim of democratization of the international life and unconditional respect to the right of people of the world to define their destiny. We reject racist prejudices, pretensions to exceptionalism and any other manifestations of neo-colonial thinking.

It is a satisfaction to state mutual interest of the Russian Federation and Muslim countries in promotion of equal and mutually beneficial relations. And the fact that this year Kazan was given the status of the OIC youth capital is its bright confirmation”.
