On April 26, at the Jalil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed in Gabdulla Tukay State Awards and congratulated the participants of the event on the Mother Tongue Day, which is traditionally celebrated on the birthday of the classic of Tatar literature Gabdulla Tukay.
He emphasized that today much attention is paid to the preservation of the native language and the rich cultural heritage of the Tatar people. Representatives of culture, art and science make their invaluable contribution to this cause. Every year their achievements are awarded with the Tukay State Award. Then Minnikhanov handed in the 2022 state awards to the winners. They were the writer Lyabib Leron for the children's books "Gil koymase" and "Akiyatche Malay", as well as the artist Anatoly Egorov for his great contribution to the development of arts and crafts of Tatarstan and the cycle of tapestries "Moon Over Kazan".
