Rustam Minnikhanov and Igor Shuvalov visit the Innopolis University

On 14 April Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the Chairman of the VEB.RF State Development Corporation Igor Shuvalov and the Chairman of the Skoltech Fund Board Igor Drosdov visited the Innopolis University where they were told that the university is the scientific center of the science city and one of the most prestigious IT universities of Russia. The university is actively involved in applied research and is the basic educational center in training specialists in digital economy. 

Representatives the university said that there are 893 students from 44 countries of the world and it is planned to double the number and build three more hostels for 1000 people. 

Scientific and research departments of the university comprise 17 labs and 9 research centers, including the AI Institute which employs 85 specialists. In total specialists of the university have completed 54 projects and published more than 800 scientific works, representatives of the university said. 

After the tour round the university Rustam Minnikhanov and Igor Shuvalov had a meeting with students, where Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan pays special attention to the development of the IT sphere and digital tools are actively implemented in healthcare, production and other branches of industry. He underlined that graduates of the university are in demand with potential employers, including those in the republic. “But to become more competitive in the market you have to get additional specialization which will substantially increase the demand in you”, Minnikhanov said. 

Then representatives of the university told about their projects and made a presentation of the Center for robotics and mechatronics components which carried out R&D in automation of industrial processes, manufacture of unique robots and robotic complexes, unmanned vehicles and aircraft. 

Later the same day Tatarstan President and the Chairman of the VEB.RF State Development Corporation visited a new technical park and construction site of the new residential area.
