On 8 March at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and the Director General of the Tourism.RF Corporation Sergey Sukhanov discussed issues of cooperation in the sphere of tourism and development of the domestic tourism.
They touched upon issues of establishing tourist and recreation clusters included into the agreement on joint development of tourism, the tourist infrastructure and hospitality sphere signed between Tatarstan and the Corporation in the presence of the Deputy Head of Russian Government Dmitriy Chernyshenko in March of the current year.
Under the national projects of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Tatarstan together with the Russian Tourism is planning to develop five tourist clusters such as Volga Bulgaria, Sokolka, Sviyaga, Kamskoye Ustye and Laishevo. The implementation of the Volga Bulgaria route will facilitate development of tourism and growth of the tourists flow in 6 more regions of the Volga Federal District.
Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov said that the region is working on increasing the tourist flow and finding new ways for attracting tourists. Currently the flow to the republic is about 3.5m people, he added.
“The Toursim.RF as an institution is facing a task of rebooting tourism in the country and making it possible for our citizens to reach the most interesting sites. The state has foreseen tools of supporting the national project of Tourism and Hospitality and introduced additional measures which will make it possible to attract more investors. Currently we are thoroughly examining sites for developing tourism and taking into consideration cultural, historical and natural special features of Tatarstan, tourist flows, the presence of the necessary infrastructure and plans of the development of the regions in the whole”, Sukhanov said.
