On March 16, the Kazan Kremlin held an event in honor of the inauguration of Kazan as the Youth Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2022.
A day earlier, on March 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and other officials took part in the inauguration.
Deputy Russian Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Oleg Mashkovtsev said that the Volga Federal District attaches great importance to both the younger generation and youth policy in general. He emphasized that this direction is really paid great attention in all regions of the district.
“We have always praised Tatarstan and Kazan, where various events are held at the highest organizational level. I think that due to the experience of holding the largest youth events Kazan got the opportunity to become the Youth Capital of the OIC in 2022.
On behalf of the Russian Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District and on behalf of all young people I congratulate Kazan on this event. I am absolutely sure that the planned events will be bright, meaningful and, most importantly, will help to constructively bring together the youth of our countries. An example of this is just Kazan and Tatarstan, where representatives of different religions and different nationalities harmoniously coexist, and there are more than 170 of them. I am sure that we will not let you down,” Mashkovtsev said.
Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Leyla Fazleeva also congratulated everyone on this event. “I want to wish us the most wonderful events, the warmest impressions,” she said. She continued that in Kazan, the federal project office of international youth cooperation in the direction "Russia - OIC" is already operating, which means that there is a constructive dialogue between us and a wonderful event is ahead.
Director General of the OIC Youth Forum Rasul Omarov said that it is a great honor for the OIC Youth Forum to participate in this event during holding and declaring Kazan the Youth Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the inauguration ceremony of which took place in Moscow on March 15.
He separately thanked Minnikhanov for his great contribution and support to the development of youth policy in the republic.
“The OIC Youth Capital programme is a great opportunity to listen to the interests of young people, understand their problems and work together to develop an agenda for the future in order to build a reliable and confident path to a sustainable future. During this year, when Kazan was granted the status of the youth capital of the OIC, we are holding a wide range of events that will contribute to strengthening the cause of peace. These are scientific conferences, seminars, sports events, including e-sports competitions and many others. As the OIC Youth Forum, we will provide all the necessary support to ensure that all planned goals and projects outlined will take place and be successful,” Omarov said.
He also expressed special gratitude to his colleague – Tatarstan Minister of Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Organizing Committee Timur Suleymanov.
