On 1 March Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of laying the corner stone of the new perinatal center in the premises of the maternity house of the city clinical hospital 7 in Kazan.
The center to be completed in August 2023 will house 160 beds and deliver up to 8 000 babies every year. It will be equipped with an admission-diagnostics block with a delivery OR and diagnostics service, an obstetric unit for 100 beds, large intensive care units, newborn pathology unit, four operation and 7 delivery rooms .
Speaking at the ceremony, Minnikhanov said: “Today we are launching the construction of a new perinatal center. We pay much attention to issues of increasing demography and safe motherhood is one of our priorities. We must create all necessary conditions for future moms and the establishment of the modern center will make it possible to improve the quality of these services substantially”.
Later the same day at his meeting with Tatarstan specialists in childhood and obstetrics in the clinical hospital Minnikhanov said that the new center will be built at the highest technological level and would seriously change the healthcare structure of the republic. The participants of the meeting also discussed measures to decrease infant mortality in the republic and the establishment of the public IVF center.
