Tatarstan President: We are interested in developing cooperation with Senegal

On February 22, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the delegation of Senegal.

“Cooperation between Tatarstan and Senegal has great potential, which has not yet been fully fulfilled”, Minnikhanov emphasized. He suggested looking for new promising areas for expanding the partnership. In particular, Tatneft Oil Company and KAMAZ Automaker are interested in developing contacts with Senegal.

Tatarstan President said that this year the Tatarstan delegation plans to visit Senegal. During this visit, the economic potential of the republic will be presented and promising areas for further cooperation will be identified.

“Tatarstan is one of the industrialized entities of Russia. We have the oil and refinery industry, big petrochemicals and powerful machine-building cluster. Our republic is also one of the leaders in agricultural production,” he continued.

According to Minnikhanov, an important area for cooperation is the halal industry. “Senegal is a Muslim country. We are your northernmost brothers. This year we will celebrate the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. We will be glad to see our friends from Senegal at this holiday,” Tatarstan President said.

He added that Russia attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Muslim states. Much work is being done here through the strategic vision group Russia - Islamic World, which Minnikhanov has been heading since 2014.

In turn, the Senegalese delegation thanked the leadership of Tatarstan for the well-organized visit and noted the importance of developing trade and economic relations.
