Rustam Minnikhanov: Our aim is to hold the Volleyball World Championship plays at the highest level possible

On 15 February at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held the second meeting of the regional organization committee on preparing and holding plays of the Volleyball World Championship among men teams of 2022 in Kazan. The Russian First Deputy Minister of Sports Azat Kadyrov and the Director General of the Organization Committee Voleyball-2022” Roman Stanislavov also took part in the meeting via videoconference.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov said that plays of the championship will be held in 10 cities of Russia and Kazan will host 6 of them on 2-4 September.

“Volleyball traditionally is one of the most popular and mass kinds of sports in our republic. Such Tatarstan volleyball teams as Zenith and Dinamo-Ak Bars  are well known for their achievements not only in Russia but also abroad”, - he said.

Plays of the world championship will be held in the Volleyball Center as “at the last meeting it was proposed to consider Kazan Center as the main play and training venue and this proposal was approved by the federal organization committee”,  - Minnikhanov said

He continued “We are doing systemic work to prepare for the plays. Our aim is to hold them at the highest level possible. The republic has all necessary resources and huge experience of organizing large sports events”.

The Russian First Deputy Minister of Sports Azat Kadyrov underlined that much attention during preparation to the championship is paid to issues of security of sports facilities. “Together with colleagues from law enforcement bodies we have developed and approved unified requirements on security which should be implemented at all facilities”, he added.

In his turn Roman Stanislavov informed that the ticket program was launched in October 2021 and more than 2 000 tickets have already been sold.

Director General of the Tatarstan  Directorate of Sports and Social Projects Maksim Denisov, who also took part in the meeting, reported about preparatory work, security measures, organization of cultural program and work with volunteers.
