Rustam Minnikhanov visits Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering

On February 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering, where he looked around the Heritage and the Archiphysics educational centres. Pro-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research of the University Yevgeny Vdovin gave an explanation.

The Centre for Architectural Restoration "Heritage" was established to train personnel and provide scientific and methodological support for facilities of restoration and preservation of historical heritage. Training is provided on both traditional and innovative architectural restoration technologies, including digital techniques and equipment.

The three-level room houses a multifunctional hall, a design workshop, a library of scientific and methodological literature on restoration, a complex research laboratory and a restoration workshop.

At the complex scientific research laboratory, Minnikhanov was informed about innovative methods of work using digital equipment: 3D laser scanning, online monitoring of parameters of the physical state of objects using radio and Internet remote data transmission systems.

Tatarstan President also visited the workshop of restoration technologies. Here, practical work is underway with various restoration materials: wood, metal, stone, etc. “Restoration work requires a lot of money. To reduce its cost, it is necessary to actively introduce new technologies into practice. Then we will be able to restore a lot more facilities,” Minnikhanov emphasized.

In the Architectural Physics Centre Tatarstan President got acquainted with researches of parameters of microclimate and environment. These include wind loads and wind flows, temperature and humidity parameters, illumination and insolation, the transmittance of translucent structures, and the thermophysical properties of enclosing structures.

Minnikhanov looked around the classrooms, the laboratory of architectural physics and the laboratory of acoustics.

Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utility Sector Marat Ayzatullin, Aide to Tatsrtaan President Olesya Baltusova and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin also took part in the event.
