On February 8, speaking at an extended summing up meeting of the Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan on the results of its work in 2021 and the tasks of strengthening law and order in 2022, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that in 2021 the prosecution authorities of the republic received more than 96,000 complaints from citizens, the department officers revealed over 10,000 violations and took prosecutorial response measures.
The Prosecutor of Tatarstan Ildus Nafikov made a keynote report "On the state of legality in the Republic of Tatarstan and pressing issues of prosecutorial supervision."
The Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Shishkin said that reduced crime detection rates are registered in Tatarstan, with an average rate of 54.3 per cent in the Volga Federal District, the clearance rate in the republic is 45.6 per cent.
Shishkin called the work of law enforcement officers in detecting crimes related to money laundering or other property (Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) inefficient. This year, only 9 such crimes were registered, although 220 such crimes were identified in the Volga Federal District and 923 in the country. The Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation also gave an errand to strengthen the work on housing shareholders, wage debtors, observance of the rights of citizens in the housing and utility services sector, and protection of the rights of entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, Minnikhanov emphasized that the employees of the department had done a lot of work in ensuring the regional legislation and solving the pressing problems of Tatarstan residents. They addressed different areas from social support to environmental issues.
The past year required all of us to work hard and coherently. The Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan fulfilled its tasks at a high level.
Tatarstan President emphasized that special attention is paid to the protection of socially vulnerable categories of citizens: veterans, disabled people, pensioners and minors. According to him, due to the prosecutor's response measures, tens of thousands of residents of the republic were able to receive a salary, restore their rights to housing, medicines or material support.
Speaking about interaction with the business community, Minnikhanov said that it is important to continue to fight administrative barriers - not to interfere, but to help business develop.
Important events of the past year, such as the election of people’s deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the All-Russian Population Census were also held with the active supervisory support of prosecutors, the President of the republic emphasized.
“Unfortunately, last year we faced a tragic emergency that exposed serious problems in security of educational institutions. Prosecution inspection revealed hundreds of violations in this area. To date, we have jointly found opportunities to eliminate most of them,” Tatarstan President said. He asked not to overlook this issue, to ensure proactive identification of deficiencies, as well as a prompt response aimed at preventing similar threats in the future.
“It is also necessary to act decisively in case of revealing inaccurate information on the Internet aimed at destabilizing the rule of law. The safety of citizens in industrial production requires no less attention; in residential premises when using gas equipment,” Minnikhanov stated.
In general, despite the obvious difficulties, the Prosecutor's Office of the republic once again proved to be a competent and efficient authority last year, Tatarstan President concluded and expressed confidence that in 2022 the prosecutors will be able to complete their tasks in 2022.
