Rustam Minnikhanov: Over 16,000 people work in research organizations of Tatarstan

On February 8, in the Kazan Kremlin, on the Day of Russian Science, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the republic in science and technology.

Minnikhanov noted that scientific and technological progress is a necessary condition for economic growth. A lot of work is being done in this area in the republic. There are many research organizations operating in Tatarstan, employing more than 16,000 people.

Universities and research institutes of Tatarstan are involved in all activities of the national project "Science and Universities", Tatarstan President emphasized. As a result, new world-class scientific centers are being established in the republic, the personnel potential is being rejuvenated, and the instrument base is being actively updated.

“It is important that the results of the intellectual activity of scientists do not remain only on paper. We need an economic environment that ensures their commercialization,” Minnikhanov said.

To address this issue, an advanced innovation ecosystem has been established in the republic. According to the results of the last year, Tatarstan ranked third in the rating of innovative development of regions.

“We have big plans ahead with a world-class campus and advanced engineering schools, support for university technology entrepreneurship and many other projects,” he continued.

A special place among the new initiatives is the development of a long-term strategy for the scientific and technological development of Tatarstan. «I am sure the energy and selfless work of our scientists will help to achieve the set tasks», President Tatarstan concluded.

As many as 29 people became laureates of the State Prize for Science and Technology of Tatarstan. Awards were handed in for:

- development and implementation of innovative technologies for early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases in children (Kazan State Medical University);

- cycle of works “Meteoric-ionospheric radio waves propagation and atmospheric wave processes” (Kazan Federal University);

- сreation and use of breeding achievement - Tatar horse breed in the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine named after Bauman);

- implementation of a set of technological solutions for the intensification of oil production in order to increase the efficiency of the development of the Romashkinskoye field at a late stage (Tatneft Oil Company).
