On February 7, at Kazan Zavoisky Physical-Technical Institute of the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with young scientists of Tatarstan.

He congratulated all those gathered on the Day of Russian Science celebrated on February 8. “It is a pleasure to meet you. We all understand that without science our country cannot be a leading one. We have very promising young scientists. Today I was informed about the new research. I already see the applied things that will soon be implemented on their basis. In general we have extensive plans for the further development of science», Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the establishment of an Academic Science Centre (Academgorodok) is under discussion today. “There is an understanding. The scientific and the substantive content will be left to the academicians, and we are ready to actively participate in infrastructure development. We have a good base, but we need to seriously increase the capacity. It would be a shame to have such young, promising scientists leaving us. On the contrary, we need to create such conditions that people would like to come and feel comfortable. Today there are many federal opportunities, we will actively participate in this,” he continued.

Minnikhanov also answered a number of questions. Thus, a proposal to establish a new synthetic biology and pharmacology consortium with the city of Tomsk was made. Tatarstan President emphasized that strengthening scientific ties between regions is of great importance.

The specialist of the Kazan State Agrarian University made a proposal to create a database on the agricultural machinery operation. Minnikhanov noted that the development of such a platform will help to use the technology more efficiently. There is no secret that agricultural equipment is used seasonally. The cost of the logistic part is huge and the combine works for two months. If we have a complete database, we will be able to increase the efficiency of agricultural machines operation and increase the service life», Minnikhanov assured.

They also discussed the popularization of science among young people, in particular through regular scientific shifts in the camps of the republic. Tatarstan President supported this initiative: “Our students and volunteers should be involved in this work. I think that it will be interesting to organize joint shifts, forums, actively use the potential of our universities, and involve teachers. We fully support this direction”.
