On 25 January, speaking at his meeting with the Governor of Perm region Dmitriy Makhonin in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said Perm region is one of the leading trade and economic partners of the republic.
Minnikhanov said that the region was the most powerful one in Russia with huge potential. The inter-regional trade turnover makes about 15bn roubles today and is characterized by considerable amounts and wide range of mutual deliveries. Thus Tatarstan supplies trucks, special vehicles, tractors and excavators, tires, diesel fuel, chemicals, glass, food products, medications and medical equipment to Perm region and purchases petrochemicals, potassium fertilizers, cement, chemicals and consumers’ products from the region.
He stressed that Tatarstan is interested in increasing supplies of automotive production (such as KAMAZ trucks, Ford-Transit and specialized vehicles), agricultural products and development of the petrochemicals market. Direct Kazam-Perm flights and the railway transportation facilitate our cooperation, he added.
We have many spheres for joint work including that in construction and there are mutual interests in shipbuilding as well. We should also consider cooperation in maintenance and repairs of vehicles on KAMAZ chassis, power and oil and gas spheres, Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President also proposed to organize exchange of experience in supporting business, digitalization, use of e-platforms, development of comfortable urban environment and the waste disposal.
We should actively work in the sphere of education - there currently are 750 students from Perm region at our universities - and also develop interaction in the spheres of ecology, healthcare and tourism and continue cultural exchange” he added.
Minnikhanov concluded expressing his gratitude to the Government of the region for support rendered to the Tatar Diaspora which includes more than 115 thousand of Tatars and wished Makhonin successful preparation to the 300th anniversary of Perm to be celebrated in 2023.
In his turn, the Perm Governor gave high assessment of the interregional cooperation with Tatarstan. He told that the region is interested in further development of industrial interaction, in cooperation in education and science and in strengthening cultural ties. “ We would like to consider with you the establishment of a center of Tatar culture in Perm as there are many Tatars living in our region and I think this center will be very popular,” he said and invited Minnikhanov to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Perm.
