A meeting between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and the Kazakhstan Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov held today

On 24 January within his business visit program Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Kazakhstan Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to the Government of Kazakhstan for its attention to cooperation between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan which “is aimed at strengthening friendly Russian-Kazakhstan relations”. 

He said :”Kazakhstan is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan”, and mentioned the construction of an iron castings and axle-drive gears plants in Kostanay  and a construction of joint tire-producing plant launched  by the Tatneft Oil Company and the Allur Group of Companies in Karaganda region.  

“The Tatarstan-Kazakhstan trade turnover made 441m dollars for nine months in 2021. There are many possibilities for our cooperation in the sphere of power engineering, industry, gas engine fuel, agriculture and petrochemistry,” Minnikhanov said. 

In his turn Kazakhstan Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said Tatarstan occupies a special place in the partnership with the Russian Federation.  “We have a huge cooperation potential and I am sure we will be able to raise our trade turnover up to 1bn dollars in the nearest years,” he said. Smailov also proposed to ramp up work of business missions.  

Director General of the Tatneft Oil Company Nail Maganov and the Director General of the KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin, who also took part in the meeting, reported about the joint projects implemented in Kazakhstan and the participants of the meeting also discussed future promising projects.
