On 22 January at the Government House of the republic Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting to discuss the situation with the COVID-19 in the republic.
Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov said that first cases of OMICRON strain have been registered in the republic. “It is a highly contagious strain and it is necessary to maintain all protective measures such as disinfection, PPE at schools and enterprises. We should seriously strengthen primary care and all treatment must be controlled by a medical doctor” – he said.
He stressed that healthcare institutions are ready for new challenges. “Last days showed that the number of sick people rocketed but there is no serious growth in the hospitals. We have a stock of beds for infectious patients and we can triple their number in case of need. All questions of medications and medical equipment are under control. We continue keeping the vaccination level and are going to work actively further” Minnikhanov said
“As many as 2m 353 thousand people have been vaccinated in the republic. We have a stock of more than 370 thousand of vaccine doses and 170 vaccination sites. There is also a possibility to have a booster shot,” he went on. “Vaccination is a possibility to protect people. Anyone of us can get sick but the timely vaccination will help to have a benign disease and to avoid complications” he added.
In conclusion the Tatarstan President said that all limitations are maintained in the republic.
