All conditions for traditional Russian Orthodox Epiphany Day dunk in an ice-hole will be provided in Tatarstan

Speaking at a routine Saturday videoconference with regions of the republic in the Government House on 14 January, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to provide all necessary conditions for traditional mass Russian Orthodox Epiphany Day dunk in an ice-hole in the republic.

He said that traditionally the Epiphany Day dunk  in ice-holes is held for three days and on 19 January the Russian Orthodoxy celebrate one of the most important religious holidays of  Epiphany. Minnikhanov stressed that it was important to provide everything necessary to organize the ice-holes and monitor all safety measures for those who would like to dip into the water.

Rutam Minnikhanov also reminded that usually the Epiphany Day dunk was always organized on the descent level in the republic.

The Press Service of the Emergencies Ministry has reported that all sites for Epiphany Day dunk will be inspected by employees of the Ministry who together with the police, medical doctors and the Water Police inspectors will provide safety of people. Giving the list of all sites for the Epiphany Day dunk, the press service also reminds about the necessity of keeping the social distancing from 1.5 to 2 meters.
