Rustam Minnikhanov supports idea of creating a special centre to train pupils for academic competitions

On June 4 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with winners of international and Russian subject academic competitions and their teachers at Tatarstan Government House.
Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the winners: “You achieved great results both at international and Russian levels. It speaks about your huge potential, talent, diligence and major efforts of your teachers.”
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan is known for developed industry and highly skilled specialists. The republic is attractive for foreign investors because of high level of intellectual potential and skilled staff, he continued.
Rustam Minnikhanov believes that it is important to develop kindergartens, schools, higher educational institutions, including Kazan Federal University and two national research institutes (Kazan National Research University and Kazan National Research Technological University).
It was announced at the meeting that within four years Tatarstan had been ranked first in Volga Federal District and fourth in Russia by results of All-Russia academic competitions. According to the Minister of Education and Science Engel Fattakhov, this year Tatarstan managed to take the third place.
Engel Fattakhov suggested establishing a special centre to train pupils for subject academic competitions. Rustam Minnikhanov supported the idea.
Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov, in his turn, noted that arrangements had been reached with leading Russian scientists concerning their arrival in Kazan for the summer period to hold master classes and roundtable sessions.
During today’s meeting pupils could ask Tatarstan President and rector of Kazan Federal University different questions.
