Rustam Minnikhanov meets the President of the Senegalese National Olympic Committee

On December 13, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin had a meeting with President of the Senegalese National Olympic Committee, Adviser to the President of Senegal Mamadou D. NDIAYE.

Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of Senegal for their interest in cooperation with Tatarstan. “We are interested in developing cooperation with your country under the Russian-Senegalese relations. We believe that the visit of the delegation to Tatarstan can lay a good basis for interaction," Tatarstan President stressed.

During his visit to Tatarstan, the President of the Senegalese National Olympic Committee is scheduled to get acquainted with the experience of the republic in sports development and the organization of major sports events. Senegal will host the Youth Olympic Games in 2026.

Minnikhanov emphasized that in recent years such international projects as the Universiade 2013 and the FINA World Championships were successfully implemented in Tatarstan. In 2018, Kazan hosted the matches of the FIFA World Cup. In the coming years, Tatarstan to host a number of other world competitions, including the World Short Course Championships and the Games of the World Volleyball Championships in 2022. President of the republic said that Tatarstan is one of the sports leaders in the country. He also emphasized that sport is not the only area in which Tatarstan and Senegal can cooperate. He suggested more active develop trade and economic cooperation.

Mamadou D. NDIAYE thanked Minnikhanov for the high level of the organization of the working visit and said that Senegal will greatly benefit from the vast experience of Tatarstan in holding sports events.
