Tatarstan is in the top 5 by the level of development of the natural gas vehicle fuel market. The rate of acquisition and refurbishment of gas equipment has increased from 509 to 10,083 units since 2010.

In 2019 the Government of Tatarstan and Gazprom Company signed an agreement on the construction of a gas liquefaction complex and petrol stations.

To date, two LNG (liquefied natural gas) plants are under construction, with 18 refuelling units planned to be operational by 2025, and it is planned to increase the number of liquefied natural gas equipment to 5,000, and as a result, to reduce the emissions of pollutants from vehicles by five per cent. Minnikhanov drew attention to the fact that one of the promising areas for the development of the NGV market is the development and implementation of digital solutions.
