On July 29, on the sidelines of the 12th International economic summit “Russia — Islamic world: KazanSummit 2021”, speaking at a plenary session of the Caspian International North-South Integration Club, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that integration of Tatarstan into international transport systems, including that “North-South", will contribute to greater development of international transport projects.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the Caspian region is a meeting place of the main Eurasian transport corridors, a unique bridge from Europe to Asia, along which Russian trade and economic relations are carried out. One of the most important corridors is «North-South».

Tatarstan President also said that the development of transport communications is important for the establishment of an efficient distribution system of the North-South corridor. This requires the development of high-tech transport infrastructure facilities and multimodal distribution centres.

“Tatarstan has its own developed industrial and transport infrastructure. We also have a favorable economic and geographical position, to become a hub in the system of transcontinental transport corridors. We have an extensive transport network comprising all types of land, air and water transport,” Tatarstan President said.

He informed about a number of large projects being implemented in the republic today, including the construction of the M-12 highway under the international transport corridor "Europe - Western China", Sviyazhsky interregional multimodal logistics terminal that can become the core of the transport and logistics system for the transportation of goods in the Volga region and a transport hub for the organization of air cargo transportation from Europe and Asia at the Kazan International Airport.
