Rustam Minnikhanov meets the Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture

On July 29, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) Yousef Hassan Khalawi, who arrived on a working visit in Tatarstan to take part in the 12th International economic summit “Russia — Islamic world: KazanSummit 2021”.

Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan has good mutually beneficial ties with many Islamic countries in the economic and cultural spheres. The republic successfully interacts with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Islamic Development Bank. “We are actively working to develop the Islamic finance sector and the halal industry,” he said.

According to Tatarstan President, one of the efficient mechanisms of joint work with the Muslim world is the Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group. Minnikhanov said that among the main tasks of the Group are the all-round promotion of Russia’s rapprochement with the Islamic world on a cultural and civilizational basis, the establishment of economic cooperation and the expansion of interaction between youth and public organizations.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the republic is interested in cooperation with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. Tatarstan is among the leading regions of Russia on the development of agro-industrial complex. Exports of agricultural products, including those produced to halal standards, were established and interaction with ICCIA can be established through Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is a subsidiary of Organization of Islamic Cooperation and represents the private sector of 57 Islamic countries. The organization's activities are aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, commerce, information technology, insurance/reinsurance, shipping, banking, investment opportunities and joint ventures.
