On June 21, during his working visit to the Moscow region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, laid flowers at the mass grave of Soviet soldiers who died during the World War II.
On the eve of the Day of Memory and Mourning, Minnikhanov visited the burial place of soldiers of the World War II in the village of Sukharevo of the Ruza city district of the Moscow region.
“The Great Victory was achieved at the cost of losses and losses. It was a feat of the whole people. In the most difficult time for the country, our people showed solidarity, love and devotion to the Fatherland,” Tatarstan President said at the ceremony. Eighty years after the beginning of the war, their feat is honored in every family and every hero is remembered, he added.
Rustam Minnikhanov's uncle, Minnikhanov Galimzyan, was also buried in the mass grave. He was killed in battle near the village of Morevo on December 15, 1941 at the age of 19.
“My father told us a lot about Uncle Galimzyan. My brothers and I have long wanted to visit the place of his burial. I would like to thank the leadership of the Moscow region for being so attentive to the issues of preserving the memory of the Heroes of the World War II,” Tatarstan President concluded.
The mass grave is located at the Patriot health and educational centre and was created in December 1941, and the monument was erected in 1960. As many as 197 people were buried there.
During his visit to Moscow, Minnikhanov also visited the museum complex in memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya in the Moscow region.
