Tatarstan Government reports to RT State Council

Today at the 40th session of the RT State Council parliamentarians heard a report on the activities of the executive power of the Republic of Tatarstan. A presentation was made by Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov. Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin said the report was preceded by hard work of republican ministries and departments. In addition the final panel sessions with active participation of the Tatarstan parliamentarians were held.

Ildar Halikov noted that Tatarstan is one of the leading regions of the country. According to the Head of the RT Government previous year can be considered quite successful for the republic. In 2012 the gross regional product (GRP) totaled 1.4 trillion Russian rubles (about US$ 44 billion) exceeding the previous year’s level by 5.5 percent in comparable prices. The growing dynamics of the GRP was primarily due to rapid productivity growth in manufacturing, development of construction, expansion of consumer demand.

A slowdown in agriculture, which began in August of last year, is associated with abnormal weather conditions that led to a reduction in agricultural production by 6.9 percent, the report reads.

Ildar Halikov noted that in the 1st quarter of 2013, slowdown tendencies in the economy are observed in the republic and Russia as well. “Tatarstan President has set a task to develop measures aimed at stimulating economic growth and to prepare for various scenarios of the development”, he said. The Tatarstan Prime Minister noted that further development of the economy will depend on the creation of new industries and improvement of competitiveness of enterprises.

Head of the RT Government noted that 2013 will be a difficult year requiring mobilization of all government authorities, businesses and citizens of the republic.

Parliamentarians also asked the Prime Minister about salary increase for state employees, repair of summer camps, housing and utility payments and etc.

In conclusion President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that government can not be perfect. “We should look for the opportunities to meet forward-looking indicators.”

The President thanked the parliamentarians for their support and reminded that in 2012 Tatarstan took the 2nd place among Russian regions in the rating of the effectiveness of executive bodies. The leading position was achieved with the help of the Government and Parliament of the Republic of Tatarstan. R. Minnikhanov said it is impossible to address issues that arise in the country without parliament’s support.
