Farid Mukhametshin chaired first meeting of Committee on international cooperation

Today Farid Mukhametshin chaired the first meeting of the Committee on international cooperation of the Council of Legislators to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The Committee was created by decision of the Council of Legislators with a view to analyze regional initiatives on foreign economic and humanitarian cooperation and summarize positive experience of the regions. Head of the Committee of the Federation Council on foreign affairs Mikhail Margelov took part in the meeting as the vice-chair.

Farid Mukhametshin greeted the Committee members and said that during the preparation they had generalized suggestions of the regional legislatures and defined issues within the competence of the Committee. The regional legislators are eager to discuss the parliamentary experience and interregional cooperation with the CIS states, regional aspects of legislative regulation of WTO accession processes, state policy concerning compatriots residing abroad, cross-border cooperation, cooperation in healthcare and cultural values preservation, anticorruption efforts and others.

Farid Mukhametshin called upon his colleagues to voice their position with regard to federal bills in the sphere of international cooperation. “Our cooperation with the specialized committees of the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation within the framework of legislative regulation of citizenship, especially challenging with regard to level of migration from the Central Asia, as well as some aspects of regional activities in conditions of WTO accession, brings our efforts into focus on the federal level.” Members of the meetings adopted the Regulation on Committee and Working plan for 2013.

After the meeting Farid Mukhametshin took part in the meeting of the Council of Legislators to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation held in the Moscow Government headquarters.
