Dmitry Chernyshenko and Rustam Minnikhanov visit the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God under reconstruction

On March 6, in Kazan, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko accompanied by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan visited the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God under reconstruction.

The cathedral is being recreated pursuant to Decree No. UP-1066 "On the establishment of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God." The memorial stone at the foundation of the sacred object was laid on July 21, 2016 with the participation of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

In the period from 2016 to 2021, the cathedral was recreated almost in its original form. The "cave temple" has also been restored (it was consecrated by Metropolitan Feofan on February 25, 2020).

Chernyshenko laid flowers at the grave of Metropolitan Feofan of Kazan and Tatarstan, who died on November 20, 2020.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia appreciated the quality of the work on the reconstruction of the temple.

The grand opening of the cathedral is scheduled for July 21, 2021.
