Rustam Minnikhanov: Today KAMAZ is the leader of the Russian truck manufacturing industry

On February 16, in Naberezhnye Chelny at the main assembly line of the KAMAZ Automobile Plant, speaking at a ceremony dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the release of the first KAMAZ vehicle, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that today KAMAZ is the leader of the Russian truck manufacturing industry.

Minnikhanov noted that KAMAZ is an example of production development. “In a very difficult period, in the tough competitive climate, KAMAZ continues to expand its presence on the market due to systematic work and the foundation provided by our old stagers. We are proud of the KAMAZ plant, we wish you prosperity and further dynamic development," Tatarstan President stressed.

During the ceremony, Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to KAMAZ old stagers and factory workers.

As noted at the event, the construction of the Kama Automobile Plant (KAMAZ) started on December 13, 1969. The auto giant was built in record time and already on February 16, 1976, the first truck rolled off the assembly line – the side truck KAMAZ-5320. The first truck produced by KAMAZ served for many years in Bashkortostan, then it was bought out, restored and now it is a valuable museum exhibit of the plant.
