Turkish delegation visited Tatarstan Parliament

Today Turkish delegation led by Vice-Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Ms. Meral Akshener visited the republican parliament. Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin welcomed the dear guests.

Before the official meeting Turkish parliamentarians toured the Parliamentary center with its sessions chamber, museum and library.

Farid Mukhametshin thanked the Turkish colleagues for finding time and opportunity to visit our Republic. He expressed gratitude to Ms. Akshener for organizing the traditional Turkish art exhibition that will be opened today in the Kazan Kremlin. The best art works of the Turkish National Palace Museum “Dolmabahche” will be exposed at the exhibition.
“This is a significant event and in turn we will also try to show you the work we conduct to preserve the culture, traditions and customs in Tatarstan,” RT State Council Chairman said.

Farid Mukhametshin told the guests about economic and political situation in Tatarstan, the structure of parliament, factions and deputy groups it comprises.

In response, Meral Akshener noted that Turkey and Tatarstan are bounded by ancient historical and cultural ties. Speaking about the development of partnerships between the two republics she said that this morning meeting with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was very efficient and productive.

In terms of inter-parliamentary cooperation the Vice-Speaker of the Turkey Grand National Assembly took a keen interest in the work of the women’s deputies group called “Merhemet – Mercy”. “I think this experience would be very interesting for our parliament. Women of opposite parties of the Turkish Parliament could temporarily unite to address pressing issues”, Meral Akshener said. The Vice-Speaker called for close cooperation and active exchange of experiences with “Merhemet” representatives.

At the end of the meeting Meral Akshener thanked Tatarstan Parliamentarians for the hospitality and warm welcome they have seen in Kazan.

The meeting was also attended by Vice-Chair of the RT State Council Rimma Ratnikova, Secretary of RT State Council Liliya Mavrina, Chair of the committee on state building and local authorities Valentina Lipuzhina, Chairman of the committee on economics, investment and business Marat Galeev, Chairman of the committee on culture, academic and national issues Razil Valeev, Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tatarstan in Turkey Aidar Gashigullin, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman in Kazan Radik Vakhitov.
